Matthews Little Portage Camp
Four Season Fishing at Matthews Little Portage Camp

MNR District 11 includes a variety of fish.
In the spring, you'll experience above average fishing success for: Pickerel (Walleye for our American friends).
I started the first Pickerel hatchery on the lake in 1982; since then, the hatchery has introduced one million Pickerel fry into the lake each spring.
The success of this program, over its 43-year history, has definitely put Lake Me-Me-Sagamesing on the map as one of the better lakes to fish for Pickerel.
Bass fishing for the less experienced fisher people is popular during the months of July & Aug.
Lake Trout are naturally in the lake and are avidly sought after by those who know how to fish for them.
Pike are also sought after by those who like to catch Pike. Over the years we've seen many trophy size Pike caught by our clients.
White fish are also present present in the lake but do require special attention to catch them.

Upon your arrival, I'll show you a map of the lake and the location of “probable” good fishing spots. Take the time to learn the lake and the spots I show you; I'm sure you'll find other good fishing spots yourself that I don’t know about, even though I've been here for more than 80 years!

The fishing can prove challenging (as in any body of water) but rewarding.
Take in the peace, relaxation and pure enjoyment of the fishing experience. As most guests tell me, "to catch a fish is purely a bonus" which is also the Camp Philosophy.
The catch & release policy is NOT mandatory, but is highly recommended - MNR District 11 regulations apply.
To keep enough fish for a good Fish Fry IS also highly recommended.

We offer the fishing experience year round
Each season offers & gives a new challenge to our guests.

This is one way to get to where the fish might be. The favourite means of transportation is by snowmobile.
